About Us

Objectives:

Strengthen the Recruitment and Retention of International Talent: Encourage outstanding students from around the world to study in Taiwan, remain for employment after graduation, and supplement Taiwan’s labor needs by retaining mid- to senior-level foreign technical talent.

Enhance the Employment Counseling System for International Students: Through the four key initiatives of the program, assist universities and colleges in establishing employment counseling mechanisms for international students and improving employment tracking systems.

Increase the Employment Rate of International Students in Taiwan: Facilitate immediate employment for international graduates by linking schools with industry, thereby providing a stable source of talent for the domestic labor market.

Cross-Ministry Collaboration and Administrative Optimization: By collecting challenges and suggestions from universities regarding international student employment counseling, and through cross-ministry coordination mechanisms, streamline procedures related to residence and work for international students in Taiwan.

Implementation Strategies and Key Initiatives:
This program is part of the “Implementation Plan for Promoting International Students to Study and Stay in Taiwan,” under one of its three major strategies: “Strengthening Employment Guidance for International Students in Domestic Employment.” To achieve the goal of retaining international students for work after studying in Taiwan, the Ministry assists universities and colleges in establishing career development and employment support systems for international students, aiming to increase the rate of international students staying for employment. The implementation strategies are as follows:

  1. Assign Dedicated Employment Counseling Staff for International Students:

Each university shall assign dedicated personnel to provide employment guidance, career planning, and related support for international students.

Provide relevant training courses and information to ensure that counseling staff possess the professional knowledge needed to offer accurate guidance.

  1. Co-Design Courses with Enterprises (Including Internships):

Encourage universities to collaborate with enterprises in relevant fields to jointly design courses, seminars, and practical observation activities.

Offer courses to strengthen international students’ Mandarin language proficiency, establish proficiency standards, and help students meet industry requirements.

  1. Establish Learning and Employment SOPs:

Provide career exploration and employment counseling services from the early stage of international student admission, including career seminars and job fairs, to help students understand Taiwan’s workplace environment.

Develop SOPs for both on-campus and employment counseling for international students, offering internship and job information to ensure comprehensive support throughout learning and job searching.

Plan evaluations and site visits for students’ industry internships to monitor internship progress and collect feedback.

  1. Implement Employment Tracking for Retention in Taiwan:

Establish a post-graduation employment tracking system for international students to evaluate the effectiveness of on-campus counseling services and activities.

Build alumni databases or relevant platforms to share corporate recruitment information, strengthen the connection between international student alumni and their alma mater, and promote long-term development in Taiwan.
