To further expand its international academic collaboration network and deepen higher education exchanges between Taiwan and Vietnam, Dr. Le Nguyen Bao, President of Duy Tan University, accompanied by Professor Lin Ping, Presidential Advisor, visited Kun Shan University on June 12. In addition to engaging in in-depth discussions, the two universities officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), expressing their shared commitment to fostering a closer partnership in talent cultivation, faculty and student exchanges, and industry–academia collaboration.
During the visit, the Duy Tan University delegation toured the Department of Electrical Engineering, gaining an in-depth understanding of the university’s distinctive teaching approaches and advanced research facilities. The two sides also engaged in lively discussions on the applications of Chip on Glass (COG) technology. The delegation highly commended Kun Shan University’s outstanding achievements in cultivating talent for smart manufacturing, the semiconductor industry, and engineering technologies, and expressed strong interest in expanding future collaboration in these fields.
During the discussion session, the presidents of both universities expressed their strong commitment to further deepening bilateral cooperation. As they explored specific directions for future collaboration, the two institutions reached a broad consensus that their substantive partnership would begin with the New Specialized Program, prioritizing opportunities for Vietnamese students to participate in the program and study Mandarin Chinese. Through an industry–academia collaboration model, the two universities aim to jointly cultivate highly skilled professionals who meet evolving industry needs.
President Lee Tien-Hsiang stated that the signing of the MOU would further expand international exchange opportunities for faculty and students at both universities while promoting the shared advancement of academic and educational development. Dr. Le Nguyen Bao, President of Duy Tan University, likewise expressed his hope that by integrating the strengths and resources of both institutions, the partnership would foster internationally competitive professionals equipped to thrive in the global workforce.
Notably, the two universities share a longstanding relationship. Their first cooperation agreement was signed in 2016 by Prof. Le Cong Co, Founder and then President of Duy Tan University. Nearly a decade later, the signing of this new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) not only reaffirms the enduring friendship between the two institutions but also marks a significant new milestone, ushering their partnership into a new stage of collaboration.
Duy Tan University, located in Da Nang, Vietnam, was established in 1994 and is one of Vietnam’s leading private universities. The university has long been committed to fostering international collaboration and strengthening industry–academia partnerships, maintaining cooperative relationships with numerous universities around the world. In both 2023 and 2024, Duy Tan University was ranked No. 1 among Vietnamese universities in international university rankings. It offers a wide range of academic disciplines, including engineering, information technology, business and management, medicine and pharmacy, and the humanities, and has consistently achieved outstanding results in both national and international university rankings, making it one of the leading higher education institutions in central Vietnam.
President Lee Tien-Hsiang noted that this exchange visit and MOU signing ceremony not only strengthened the longstanding friendship between the two universities but also established a solid foundation for future collaboration in talent cultivation, academic exchange, and industry–academia cooperation. He expressed his hope that through continued interaction and resource sharing, the two institutions would create new opportunities for higher education collaboration between Taiwan and Vietnam.
