*New Southbound Program (NSP) Internship Guidelines
- Companies providing off-campus internships for students in the New Southbound Program must be approved by the Ministry of Education (MOE). If a new internship company is to be added or an existing one changed, and it is not listed in the original program proposal, the school must submit an official request to the MOE at least two months before the internship course begins. The internship may only proceed after approval is granted.
- Internship applications for the New Southbound Program are processed on a semester basis. The internship period must take place during the academic semester and may not exceed 18 weeks. All related agreements and each student’s individual internship plan must contain consistent information.
- Although the internship lasts for the entire semester, students are still required to return to campus for weekly classes. Therefore, when applying through the online internship system, the internship type must be selected as “Other Internship.”
- The internship content provided by cooperating companies must match the department’s core competencies and professional training objectives. The internship course objectives and internship content stated in each student’s individual internship plan must correspond with the approved program proposal or the internship course syllabus.
- To protect students’ rights and interests, students participating in off-campus internships must be covered by the “Off-campus Internship Group Insurance for College Students” or other commercial insurance. For internships applied through the school’s internship system, the Career Services Division will assist in arranging the insurance based on the submitted application information. In addition, during part-time work, students must comply with Article 50 of the Employment Service Act and work legally in Taiwan. Students’ rights and interests shall also be protected under the Labor Standards Act and related labor regulations, and the cooperating company must provide labor insurance according to the law.
- According to the regulations of the New Southbound Industry-Academia International Program, cooperating companies must provide internship allowances to students in accordance with the Labor Standards Act and other related regulations to ensure students’ internship rights and interests.
- Students’ internship allowances and part-time work salaries must be directly transferred into the students’ personal bank accounts and must be deposited separately. Companies are not allowed to combine internship allowances and part-time salaries into a single payment. Salary statements must clearly distinguish internship allowances from part-time wages, either on separate lines or on two separate salary statements. Labor insurance deductions must be listed under the part-time salary section, and students must be clearly informed of all details.
- Weekly classes, including theoretical courses and off-campus internship courses, must be scheduled during daytime hours from Monday to Friday and conducted according to a fixed timetable.
- If a student participates in both an internship and part-time work at the same company, the total working hours may not exceed 40 hours per week. The combined internship and work hours may not exceed 8 hours per day, and all activities must end before 10:00 PM.
